Excellent transfers and tours We booked based on TripAdvisor recommendations. We were not disappointed!! We communicated with Gaetano before the trip and he even recommended some additional ideas before the trip. He picked us up promptly in Napoli and we rode his comfortable van to Pompeii. He had arranged for a guide there who turned out to be excellent. Gaetano picked us up after the 2 hour tour and drove us to a vineyard y tour he recommended. This also turned out to be a great stop with a brief tour of the vineyard followed by an excellent lunch. Finally, Gaetano drove us to our hotel in Positano where he dropped us off. He was very attentive, provided many useful details as he was driving, and was very cordial.

Worth every single penny - highly recommend My family of 5, including 2 teenagers and college student had a great experience with Gaetano. I reached out to him via email to design our itinerary, and he was responsive and professional. Initially, we were going to take a local train from the Napoli train station to Sorrento and tour the Amalfi coast using public transportations on our own, as part of adventure but thank goodness we splurged on hiring a local guide like Gaetano. The entire area is a bit hectic and in April, it was overly crowded. Driving is impossible if you're not a native, and buses in Italy aren't reliable. We saw so many frustrated people waiting for bus only to realize that a tiny bus arrives full with no space. We worked with him for 2 days. Day 1, he picked us up from the Napoli train station and gave us an all day tour of Ravello (don't miss this place), Amalfi and Positano and dropped us at our airbnb in Sorrento. On another day, he picked us up and took us to Pompeii, waited for us then took us to the best pizza restaurant for lunch before dropping us in the Napoli train station. Gaetano is professional, friendly and reliable. I would highly recommend hiring him for your relaxing time in the Amalfi area.

Beautiful drive Our favorite part was seafood in Amalfi, the sea views and the streets of Sorrento. We were so happy to have Gaetano as our guide and driver. He met us at our hotel and greeted us warmly. He was very entertaining, giving us a lot to laugh about. On the serious side he gave us history of Napoli and the areas we drove past along the coast. His suggestions of itinerary were great. He was very prompt and available the whole tour. The restaurant recommendation was excellent. We maybe would have passed on Ravello and spent more in Sorrento, but otherwise gorgeous trip.

Highlight of Italy trip - Amalfi Coast 🇮🇹 Fantastic experience with Gaetano touring the Amalfi Coast in September 2022. Knows all the ins and outs of the area and how to make the most out of a tight schedule - especially with the busy traffic in the area. Brought us to this great local gem restaurant for lunch with the best food + views we’ve enjoyed in Italy. Best way to visit Amalfi Coast (and on a comfortable Mercedes van)!

POSITANO
Driving down-hill directly through Positano descending the winding one-way road, bypassing many local restaurants, leads to the heart of the town – the busy central Piazza dei Mulini that is connected to a narrow downhill path and some occasional flights of steps that lead to the seafront.
At Piazza dei Mulini, you must leave the car as all streets leading to the waterfront are for pedestrians only.
These streets also lead to the cathedral, shops selling lemons, shoes and “Positano fashion” clothing.
While Positano’s ceramic and linen industries (Moda Positano) date from the 1950s, they boomed when tourists discovered the village in the 1970s.
Today you’ll find lots of these shops on this street, along with galleries featuring the work of local artists (a visit to a factory is at your own discretion).
There is a short walk back uphill in order to return to the car and this time, ascending the mountain, returning to the main coastal road to start the journey back to the hotel or ship.
Explore the narrow streets of this maritime village.

AMALFI
The coastal road begins after Sorrento, runs through Positano, the fishing villages of Praiano, Furore and Conca dei Marini, and continues until it reaches the busy square of Amalfi which is situated on the seafront – the port and a long stretch of pebbled beach.
In front of the port of Amalfi, there is the one and only bus station along the coast.
Behind this square lies the main shopping street of Amalfi that terminates at the furthest and highest point of the town.
Along the pedestrian street are various bars and cafés, not to mention the many shops selling limoncello, casual clothing, swimwear, gifts, basic groceries, and of course, ceramics.
However, if one would like to see more than just shops, Amalfi has some interesting sights to explore: the most spectacular cathedral along the coast, the paper factory and its museum.

RAVELLO
Ravello is a rural village un spoilt by tourism, perched on top of a mountain cliff situated above Amalfi and Minori. It is famous for its breath-taking views and ancient monuments best exemplified by the gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo.
In high season, these gardens are rich in sweet secants of blooming flowers, shadows of flora and perfume of lemons.
There are also many classical concerts held in the gardens of Villa Rufolo, located just off the main square of Ravello.
Apart from the main cathedral, also situated in the square there is a history museum constructed in the basement of the cathedral.
Alng the narrow arches of Via Roma one will find a few small boutiques and souvenir shops.

POMPEII
Begin this exiting excursion directly at your hotel or from the pier, you will pass Mount Vesuvius as you begin your coastal drive south to the ancient city of Pompeii, one of the most famous excavations in the world.
You will see the shadows of life as it was lived in 79 AD.
Once a thriving empire 1,900 years ago, it was devastated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, when 30 feet of volcanic ash and pumice stone covered the city.
Archaeological excavations are open to the public between the hours of 08:30 and 18:00 every day of the week, on request a licensed guide can be arranged for Pompeii tour.
Please note that since Pompeii is a popular area for tourists, we strongly recommend being cautious of your belongings!
On your way from Pompeii to Sorrento, you will see typical villages and the dolomitic cliffs which have characterized this peninsula for many centuries.

HERCULANEUM
If you visit the city of Naples you have reserve a bit of time to see the two most famous places of the surroundings of Naples, namely the two cities buried by the eruption of Vesuvius, Pompeii and Herculaneum.
The two sites have been scarred forever by the proximity of the volcano, which characterizes the landscape, but it is also the protagonist of their destruction.
The eruption that has engulfed the city is that of 79 AD, which blocked the two Roman centers in an almost surreal dimension, where the houses, streets, public buildings, objects of everyday life and even people appear peacefully asleep under volcanic dust.
Both Pompeii and those of Herculaneum are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to the testimonies that reproduce the life of a society from another era, that is unparalleled in the world.
The Herculaneum site was discovered in the eighteenth century, quite by accident, by a prince who had a villa in Portici, that – performing the excavations – found the remains of an ancient temple.
The various excavations have brought to light various works of art, temples, the Basilica, several houses and the villa of the Papyri, still partly unexplored, where about 1700 papyrus, enclosed in boxes, have been found, which deal philosophical texts in greek and latin.
The Herculaneum visit allows travel with the imagination and wander through the old streets and enter homes discovering the customs and habits of the past.

VESUVIUS
Mount Vesuvius is a somma-stratovolcano located on the Gulf of Naples in Campania, Italy, about 9 km (5.6 mi) east of Naples and a short distance from the shore.
It is one of several volcanoes which form the Campanian volcanic arc.
Vesuvius consists of a large cone partially encircled by the steep rim of a summit caldera caused by the collapse of an earlier and originally much higher structure.
Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the burying and destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as several other settlements.
The eruption ejected a cloud of stones, ashes and volcanic gases to a height of 33 km, spewing molten rock and pulverized pumice at the rate of 6×105 cubic metres second, ultimately releasing a hundred thousand times the thermal energy released by the Hiroshima-Nagasaki bombings.
More than 1,000 people died in the eruption, but exact numbers are unknown.
The only surviving eyewitness account of the event consists of two letters by Pliny the Younger to the historian Tacitus.
Vesuvius has erupted many times since and is the only volcano on the European mainland to have erupted within the last hundred years.
Today, it is regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3,000,000 people living nearby and its tendency towards violent, explosive eruptions of the Plinian type, making it the most densely populated volcanic region in the world.

NAPLES
Naples is one of the most beautiful cities to visit during a trip to Italy, it offers an incredible variety of things to do, sights to see and magical stories that envelop it in an aura of mystery.
The city a more be visited even ten times a year, but each time will give something different and new places to explore that seem to never run out.
From the sea to the culture, nature, leisure and the delicious cuisine, which is not just pizza, tourists remains entranced by the heat and from the places that have made and continue to make history of our country.
The historic center of Naples is a never-ending succession of squares, churches, palaces and spiers of the most important.
Walking through its streets, such as the San Gregorio Armeno, which at Christmas time becomes the heart of Naples with its artisan market of statues and items for the crib, you can discover the true soul of the city.
The famous Palace of Capodimonte, Naples underground, the church dedicated to San Gennaro, where every year we celebrate the miracle of the blood dissolution, Posillipo with its belvedere and the Vomero with its villas are just a few things to see in its center that already fill the visit.
But Naples is also much more, and off the main core of the city the itinerary is enriched by historical sidelights, archaeological, and natural magic will not have comparisons in the world.
The routes that wind in the Naples area are many and varied, from the spell of Capri blue, the breath of the history of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the burning land of the Campi Flegrei.

SORRENTO
Close to the Amalfi coast there is the Sorrento coast, which stretches from Castellammare di Stabia to Punta Campanella.
The most representative city is Sorrento, a true haven of art and culture of the bell, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, with important historical and artistic heritage.
The heart of the city is formed by a maze of narrow streets lined by small shops of craftsmen that produce the typical and folkloristic items products, in addition to the many taverns where you can taste all specialties.
There are opportunities for wellness tourism, with the renowned thermal spas of Vico Equense.
One recommendation, do not leave the Sorrento Coast without tasting the famous Limoncello liquor.

CASERTA
The Royal Palace of Caserta sits majestically on a hill overlooking the estate once belonging to the Bourbon kings of Naples.
Built in grand style and stature, it was one of the largest buildings constructed in Europe in the 18th century and remains one of the continent’s largest palaces.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and at nearly 47,000 square meters in size it is the largest royal residence in the world.
The palace was inspired in large part by the Palace of Versailles in nearby France, though maintains its own individuality and style.
Similarly surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens, fountains, and parks, it is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and impressive in its scale alone.
A few things not to miss: the Royal Staircase, atrium, and Palatine Chapel, which meet a central, particularly scenic part of the palace.

Hands down – the best experience travelling through Italy I got in Napoli and on Amalfi Coast with one and only Gaetano! He was recommended to me by a local guide, whom I’ve used whilst in Rome – Mathilda (another gem of a guides). Gaetano isn’t just your usual Guide, he’s also your privet driver – of a Mercedes Van or Vespa scooter – pick your favourite, or actually, live a little and trust this stranger when she tells you – you need both!!! For completely different experiences! And oh boy experience it was! The beast and most important thing about Gaetano is that he is NOT Italian BUT born and bread Neapolitan, with knowledge of the whole of Campanile Region, Amalfi Coast, Ischia, Capri and of course the whole of Naples city. He’s your man for when you feel like doing unique, off the beaten path vine testing, standing at the feet of the Mighty Vesuvius!
When olive oil or limoncello testing tickles your fancy – Gaetano knows it ALL!
The not so fancy in decor but with mouth weathering dishes local restaurants – he knows those too! He knows where they are, he knows families that owe them and so dinners there turn into one big food celebration! So if you can treat yourself to a bit of a luxury ask Gaetano to plan your visit!!!
You’ll leave with the best pictures, memories, new friends and mozzarella from the Napoli airport – that he’d tell you to buy – DO IT!

After a 3 week stay in Campania, I returned to Poland happy, full of great memories, and rich in vast knowledge about the history, culture and life in this region – all thanks to Gaetano @yourdriverinitaly. He was who was my guide, driver, advisor and expert in the Neapolitan culture and traditions.
He picked me up from the airport and already the way to the hotel was full of great stories about Naples, it’s history, people and everyday customs. Gaetano knew endless amount of anecdotes regarding old days – which would be very difficult to find in the official guides.
It was thanks to Gaetano that I was able to fulfill my sightseeing plan in 100%, without his help it would be impossible.
We visited the whole of Naples and its most beautiful places but also areas that are less available and known by tourists. Thanks to his advice and suggestions, I discovered wonderful, non-touristic restaurants and cafes. Because of his help and commitment, I was able to see many places away from Naples – I looked into the crater of Vesuvius, visited Pompeii, followed the footsteps of the main character of Elena Ferrante’s novel, tasted wine on the foot of the volcano.
Gaetano knew where they serve the best coffee, where it is worth popping in for a delicious Margherita pizza. Since I was traveling alone this time, he always wrote to me and checked if I was okay which made me I feel safe and assured that I could count on his help in any situation.
Punctual, responsible, always smiling and kind. A sensational driver. He always remembered to book admission tickets, helpful in planning the route and purchasing tickets.
I wholeheartedly recommend @yourdriverinitaly. Your trip will gain in quality and safety, you will discover thousands of places, you will get acquainted with history, geography, learn about the habits of Neapolitans, you will eat delicious food and drink wine straight from the vineyards under Vesuvius

I cannot recommend Gaetano enough! Traveling as a single female on my first trip overseas, Gaetano was truly a lifesaver. He picked me up right outside my gate at the airport with a sign with my name. On our way to Sorrento, Gaetano was kind enough to give me a heads up that one area I booked an AirBnb in for the end of my trip was maybe not the best choice. I’m so happy I took his advice! I ended up spending that time in Napoli which was some of the greatest time during my trip. After dropping me off at my hotel in Sorrento for the first 5 days of my trip, Gaetano picked me up at the Napoli central train station at the end of the week. This is a busy station, but Gaetano was right there when I got outside. Next, Gaetano took me on a trip around the less traveled parts of Napoli while also showing me the lay of the land in the busy area near my hotel. This was truly an amazing experience! Gaetano took me to a locals spot for one of the best lunches of my life and was wonderful company! I felt completely safe and at ease – this is priceless in a foreign country. After a few days in Napoli, Gaetano picked me up at 3:45 a.m to take me back to the airport. Most drivers that I contacted for quotes simply would not pick me up that early.

In addition to Gaetano’s world class service, he is simply a genuinely nice human being. He checked in on my via WhatsApp for the duration of my trip to make sure I was ok and ready to provide any recommendations I needed. In sum, Gaetano made my trip and if you are considering who to call for your trip to the Napoli area, look no further!

What a great day and a great guide. GAETANO was the best! Took us down the Almalfi coast and stopped at a lemon cello factory along the way and then to a family owned restaurant in Pasitano where the amazing view continued. GAETANO is very knowledgeable about the area and the love for his hometown of Napoli was obvious❤️ Next time in Napoli, GAETANO is our guide

Hats off to the best driver in Napoli- Sir Gaetano Sollazzo!
He was on time to pick me and my wife up, he was thoughtful to bring us for breakfast before the magical tour began and he was not only knowledgeable in his work but also, he knows how to entertain us with his wicked good sense of humour!!
He is the the people’s person and he even planned a route for us to tour the beautiful city of Naples the next day!!
How awesome! He went an extra mile just for a stranger like us! That speaks volume about his character and sincerity. Thank you for having and making us such a VIP and we look forward to c him again in future!

Reliable, professional & honest driver/tour guide!

Gaetano was very professional, honest and reliable. He is a very safe driver and cared for the well-being of everyone in the van, especially our young daughter. He is a family man with children of his own, so he truly understood what travelling with children and family meant. Fully safety first. The sites he brought us to were breathtaking and the ease at which he drove us there was comforting. He was able to deliver what the tour promised and more. We had him on two different site seeing tour days, the Amalfi Coast and Pompei. Lovely! He was also very punctual, arriving even before the agreed-upon time. He made my family’s experience a wonderfully memorable one! We will definitely be using his services again in the future! Grazie mille Gaetano!

LWe used this service during our stay in Naples in Italy . Gaetano turned out to be a very honest, reliable and professional driver. He really cares about his customers making the whole experience unique and very safe. He gives 110% and he’s very social and punctual. We had the chance to use his services twice ,once for a full day along the spectacular Amalfi coast and another time to visit the breathtaking archeological site of Pompei. We were a group of 5 people including one child under the age of ten. Gaetano was accommodating and he always went the extra mile to ensure every stop was comfortable and that we had enough time to visit Individual places with ease. We had a great time and we made a good friend! We’ll definitely be using his services again next time we visit. Grazie Gaetano, ci vediamo la prossima volta!

Me and my family were at Amalfi and Paestum on 8/14/2018 and it was the best day ever. Our driver Gaetano is very much recommended. The restaurant with a nice view which he helped book was great. The Italian music in the van made it memorable.

  10. Deema

The driver gaetano.was very helpful and the trip was very impressive. The driver was smiling and helpful. He gave us all the information about the Amalfi coast and spoke English in a wonderful way .

  11. Jess

Gaetano was very informative and had wonderfully helpful recommendations on where to eat, shop and visit. The visit to Pompeii and the Bosco De Medici winery was great and well organised. Highly recommend!

    Thanks Marco!!! ♥️☀️

Had a great day at Napoli (Symphony of the Seas; June 2018) thanks to driver Marco who took us to Ravello, Amalfi, Positano, and Pompeii.

Ravello was a pretty little town but not necessarily a must-see. Amalfi and Positano were much nicer and we stayed for over an hour each. Pompeii was exhausting but the amphitheater photos were worth it. (The burnt bodies were interesting to look at too…)

Service of Marco was great. My mom travels in a wheelchair and Marco was always concerned and very caring…he tries to drop us at the nearest drop off/pickup point possible. He also helped my brother carry it in and out of the vehicle.

Around 10 minutes before meeting time he would call us to remind us to be back so that we would have time for all the sights and wouldn’t miss the cruise ship.

I don’t normally write reviews…but this was just too convenient and flawless–I’m happy I didn’t book a shore excursion through the $hip.

Would totally recommend and I would get their services again when I come back.

    Enjoy your vacation!

We went on Amalfi Coast day trip on 27/03/2018. Our Guide was Gaetano who was very friendly, professional and very Informative. He explained the history of South Italy and all places where we were going to visit. He show up at train station in Naples on time and drive us to our first destination Sorento and gave us free time to explore the city. Then from Sorento we drive to Positano and had our lunch and did shopping. One thing which we did not expect was, He took us to Olive oil factory which was very good experience. And then we went to Pompeii and returned back to Naples to catch the train. I would highly recommend him if you are planning trip to Amalfi Coast.
Tha KS Gaetano for your wonderful services.

  14. Smita Jhalani

We took services of Gaetano (yourdriverinitaly.com) during our trip to Amalfi coast in October 2015. It was a wonderful experience for us. He was extremely professional and efficient and we had a wonderful time. He tried to give the best services and best advice on using our time during that trip, even sacrificing his business interests. One thing I admired was that he never asked for any advance and trusted us for showing up on the day of the trip at Naples. I would highly recommend his services if you are planning a trip to Amalfi coast or the vicinity.

  15. Vinicio Rinaldi

We had a day trip from Napoli to Amalfi Coast 31/5/17, our driver Marco was very informative, friendly but professional. The day started with Pompai then onto Sorento, Positano where Marco had booked a seat at an Italian restaurant for lunch with panoramic views, this was very special & unexpected. If there was any questions to be answered Marco knew the answer, thank you Marco for making our dream to go to the Amalfi Coast a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend you to any of our friends travelling to Italy.
